Softball Players Approach First Game

The varsity softball team began the season with three wins against Alamo Heights, Marshall and San Marcos and one tie against 4-A state champs Hays.
“This is probably the best team I’ve been on,” sophomore first baser Raegan Cansler said. “Not only do we have awesome seniors and returners but we also have amazing incoming freshman. In what little time we’ve been together, we play like we’ve been together forever. I love my softball family. This season should be great.”
Last year they made it to the first round of playoffs, but this year they are practicing harder for the chance to go all the way.
“I think we have a great chance to go far into the playoffs. We have a strong defense and our offense is starting to come around,” senior first baser Jennifer Hittinger said.
Varsity has been working on fundamentals since the beginning of practices for tryouts.
“We work well together and will only get better as we continue to adjust to one another,” senior third baser Alexis Walkden said.
Varsity’s second game will be Tuesday, Feb. 18 at Clemens.
